The Chiropractic Adjustment Changing Gene Expression
Dr. Andrew Timbs – Purity Chiropractic – Peregian Springs, Fernvale, Lowood, Esk, Tagoolawah, Summerset Dam & Plainlands
If you told someone that ‘I go see a chiropractor to get an adjustment to make sure my genes are expressing themselves properly’ most people would think your crazy!!
Chiropractic and chiropractors have known for over 100 years of the amazing power of removing interference to the nervous system by specifically adjusting the spine. It has been a message the chiropractic profession has been trying to educate the world on for a century. Chiropractors have been thrown in jail, lost their licenses, banned from practice, ridiculed, slandered and much more as a result of trying to share this message.
But there is more and more evidence coming from the medical profession to validate what chiropractors have been saying for a century.
I have been educating my practice members for years on the concept that chiropractic is so much more than helping with pain and symptoms. This is such a hard concept for everyone to understand as it has been drummed into us that if I have no pain and symptoms I am healthy.
Harvard University is probably the most highly respected medical institution in the world. Below are some quotes from the research by, Dr. Donald Ingber, MD,PhD, Harvard University, Professor and Director, Wyss Institute. Dr. Ingber demonstrates that mechanical forces i.e a chiropractic adjustment can do far more than help with pain and symptoms it positivity effect gene expression. It does not get much bigger than that!
“Anyone who is skilled in the art of physical therapy knows that the mechanical properties, behavior and movement of our bodies are as important for human health as chemicals and genes.”
“However, only recently (chiropractors have know this for over 100 years and have been tring to get the messege to the world all this time!!) have scientists and physicians begun to appreciate the key role which mechanical forces play in biological control at the molecular and cellular levels.”
“Mechanical forces applied at the macroscale (the chiropractic adjustment) produce changes in biochemistry and gene expression within individual living cells. This structure-based system provides a mechanistic basis to explain how the application of physical therapies (chiropractic adjustment) might influence cell and tissue physiology.”
